Price should always be considered when shopping for the right luxury vehicle, especially because it equates to value. The new Porsche Cayenne starts at under $68,000, compared to the Range Rover Sport which starts at over $69,000, allowing you save by choosing the Cayenne.

Performance

Both the Cayenne and the Range Rover Sport come equipped with standard 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engines, with the Range Rover Sport getting a slight nod in standard horsepower with 355 compared to 335-horsepower in the Cayenne. However, both vehicles offer a range of engine options throughout the lineup. The Porsche Cayenne S model uses a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 434-horsepower, compared to similar trim level Range Rover Sport HST which offers 355-horsepower.
When equipped with the second tier of engines in the lineup, the Porsche Cayenne S model can achieve speeds of 0-60 mph in as little as 4.9 seconds. The Range Rover Sport HST model can achieve speeds of 0-60 mph in as little as 5.9 seconds.
The new Porsche Cayenne S also has a higher top track speed than the Range Rover Sport HST, allowing you to reach speeds of 164 mph compared to 140 mph from the Range Rover Sport HST model.
The new Porsche Cayenne is lighter than the Range Rover Sport is, with curb weights ranging from 4,582 to 5,056 pounds, compared to 4,773 to 5,448 pounds in the Range Rover Sport lineup.
Both the Porsche Cayenne and the Range Rover Sport use an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, the Cayenne also allows you to use a Tiptronic S system to gain manual control of shifting when you want it, providing you with a more sporty and responsive feel as the driver.

Technology

To help you stay connected, the new Porsche Cayenne comes equipped with a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display for the built-in infotainment system. The new Range Rover Sport comes with a standard 8-inch touchscreen display for its built-in infotainment system. Both systems come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Safety

Safety is a main concern in both the Porsche Cayenne and the Range Rover Sport models. That's why both vehicles come with their own form of automatic emergency braking, including the Porsche Warn and Brake Assist system that will apply the brakes for you if you don't react to the warning on time.
